The art of subtraction in photography
Queste righe servono a definire i confini e il senso della mia pratica fotografica. Sono una guida per orientarsi tra i due modi in cui ho scelto di mostrare la mia ricerca visiva.
C’è un tempo per scegliere e un tempo per raccontare. Ho diviso il mio lavoro in due spazi per dare a ogni immagine la sua giusta collocazione, tra la selezione rigorosa e la cronaca del cammino.
Quando la realtà si palesa provocando il fotografo, scaturiscono immagini nuove che raccolgo nel portfolio, una sorgente di 50 immagini da mantenere limpida nel tempo per sottrazione, pubblicando nuove immagini che vanno a sostituirne altre.
Il blog è invece il luogo del racconto quotidiano: qui il cammino resta visibile nella sua interezza. È una traccia che si sviluppa giorno dopo giorno, dove l’immagine si unisce alla parola e ai dati tecnici per documentare ogni passaggio della ricerca.

These lines serve to define the boundaries and the meaning of my photographic practice. They are a guide to orient oneself between the two ways I have chosen to show my visual research.
There is a time for choosing and a time for storytelling. I have divided my work into two spaces to give each image its rightful place, between rigorous selection and the chronicle of the journey.
When reality reveals itself by provoking the photographer in a particular way, new images emerge that I collect in the portfolio, A spring of 50 images to be kept clear over time by subtraction, publishing new images that replace others.
The blog, instead, is the place of daily storytelling: here the journey remains visible in its entirety. It is a trace that develops day after day, where the image joins the word and technical data to document every step of the research.
