Like fingers on the piano
The needle slides onto the vinyl ofThe Dark Side of the Moonwhile the night lights cut through the dust of my attic. I hold the latest photo in my hands, still fresh with “ink”, and I lean toward the microphone. I’m warning you: this image is not meant to be looked at, but to be heard.
I see the city as it shifts toward evening, immersed in the noise of urban traffic that saturates the air. Under a sky streaked with clouds holding the last glows, vehicle lights reflect on the asphalt while solitary figures and small groups cross the urban space.
On the pedestrian crossing, passers-by move like fingers running quickly over the keys of a piano, between sharps and flats drawn on the stone. It is an image that movement transforms into a melody at the end of a workday, a sound that tries to prevail over the background noise of the city.
Like Wenders’ angels, we listen to the whisper of their thoughts: a dinner getting cold, the fear of a meeting… or just the silence that precedes an uncertain destiny. But beauty doesn’t live in that suspended tomorrow because it is all in the desires vibrating in the present. We run toward the other side of the road but the music isn’t in the finish line, rather in the rhythm we create while we move toward each other.
